Serum levels of total thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) were estimated in 51 women with carcinoma breast, before treatment, and after treatment (surgery, radiotherapy). Mean levels were compared with 25 healthy women, 19 women with benign breast adenoma and 30 patients with a variety of other malignancies. No significant differences were observed in serum T3 and T4 among breast cancer patient groups and between the pre and post treatment samples (surgery, radio therapy). We conclude that patients with breast cancer did not have thyroid dysfunction.
